Item Description

This is a beautiful crystal of bicolor Tourmaline from the famous Cruzeiro Mine dating back about 40 years. This incredibly GEMMY single prism has lustrous, striated faces and the termination has a flat matte luster, creating a unique contrast. The color is quite saturated showing a mostly rich green hue on the lower portion, and finished with a lovely rich blue "Indicolite" shade at the terminations. The crystal is in excellent shape, and would make a wonderful addition to any Tourmaline suite, a gem crystal collection, or a Brazilian collection. Classic material and great quality from the standpoint of color and GEM clarity. Specimen weight is 7.2 grams. The piece comes from the collection of the well-known dealer Richard Kosnar (the namesake for the phosphate Kosnarite) who made a name for himself in his early days as a mineral dealer by traveling to Brazil often in the 1970s. Rich brought back many significant gem mineral specimens and assorted rarities during his travels. This specimen is valued at $950.
