Item Description

The famous Himalaya Mine has produced some of the most famous Tourmaline specimens in the world. This specimen is a sharp, lustrous, gemmy, attractive multi-color crystal with what is referred to on the accompanying base as a "white cap", sitting atop the classic gemmy rich pink hue of the lower section of the piece. The termination has virtually no color, but when you rotate it in the light, you can clearly see the classic "cat's eye" effect for which Tourmaline is well-known. A small group of gemmy purple "Lepidolite" can be see on the side of the piece for a nice touch. I can't say for sure which pocket this piece is from, but I'm certain that there are Himalaya experts out there who would know. No damage that I can see, outside of the base of the piece where it was detached from the pocket wall. A really interesting and unusual crystal from one of the premier specimen-producing pegmatite localities in the United States. Valued at $2,400.
