Item Description

A classic specimen of the desirable and seldom seen Rubellite Tourmalines from the classic locality at Rozna in the historic former countyr of Moravia in the modern day Czech Republic. Sharp, lustrous, thin, pink prismatic Rubellite crystals formed in semi-radial "sprays" with crystals measuring up to 3.2 cm long. If you collect Tourmalines, you need one of these in your collection, as they are classics and very difficult to find on the market. This locality dates back to the 1700s, and specimens of Tourmaline from Rozna are pictured in all of the old European mineral books. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
