Item Description

Sculptural and showy large combination material from the early 2000s finds at the Cryo-Genie Mine. A 4.2 x 3.9 x 2.4 cm rich green tourmaline is nicely embedded on the side of a robust glassy, transparent to translucent smoky quartz crystal. Pearlescent lepidolite crystals are a dramatic "crown" to the lustrous, well-striated tourmaline. Back lighting reveals the rich green color saturation of the translucent tourmaline. These were considered some of the better tourmalines from the mine by outsiders to collecting San Diego County tourmalines as they had a prismatic habit rather than the tapered habit typical of the Big Monday and B.A.T. Pockets this mine was better known for. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, either selfcolelcted or from his close friends the Gochenour brothers who owned the claim and sold him many many pieces. Bob is a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. A fine large tourmaline combination from the extinct locale.
