Item Description

A really interesting and unusual Tourmaline crystal from the Chia Mine in Brazil. The lower half of the crystal is mixture of WATER-CLEAR rich blue and green hues, but the upper portion is a very dark brown color. With strong backlighting, you can get a tiny bit of light to shine through the brown portion of the crystal. It's certainly one of the most odd Tourmalines from Brazil that we've ever had to offer from the standpoint of color. The crystal itself also has an odd tabular habit, with brilliant, almost "wet" luster on all sides and a matte luster on the termination. You'd be hard-pressed to find another Tourmaline quite like this one, so if you're a fan of gem pegmatite minerals or worldwide Tourmalines, don't pass this one up. From the collection of Brian Kosnar, specimen weight is 18.9 grams.
