Item Description

An old time specimen of pink Tourmaline on Quartz from the world-famous Himalaya Mine. A well-formed, striated, prismatic, translucent doubly-terminated crystal of lovely pink Tourmaline measuring 3.0 cm long sits atop an unusually blocky, slightly smoky colored Quartz crystal. The Quartz doesn't have a typical hexagonal crystal habit, and it's essentially complete all the way around. The piece is nearly a "floater", but there are a few small point of attchment, not damage per se. This easily dates back to the 1950s (Potter era) and is a wonderfully eye-catching example of this old classic material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7869). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
