Item Description

Campolungo is the type locality for Tremolite, and good matrix specimens like this are few and far between. This piece features a sharp, prismatic, soft yellow-green colored crystal of Tremolite measuring 2.1 cm on fine grained white Dolomite matrix. Typically the Tremolites from this locality are tightly intergrown groups of white colored "needles" off matrix, and good specimens with isolated crystals of this lovely green color are RARE in my experience with the material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3784). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
