Item Description

Hexagonite is the ultra-rare manganoan-rich variety of tremolite and is distinguished by its lilac to purple color. It is only found in one county in New York. Hexagonite was supposedly a hexagonal form of tremolite, but was shown to be monoclinic. That being said, this is a solid thumbnail of gemmy and lustrous, lilac hexagonite crystals and needles! Rich and excellent specimen material from this well-known talc mine - whereas most is massive and worth little. Ex Kay Robertson Collection with no catalog number matching due to the move of the collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
