Item Description

Despite is fairly simple chemistry (aliminum hydroxy phosphate) Trolleite is only found is just over a dozen localities in the world, and good examples are exceedingly rare on the market. Arguably the best known examples are found in Sweden. This particular piece comes to us from the lesser known locality at the Willis Mountain Mine in Buckingham County, Virginia. The piece features a shimmering matrix of blended Quartz and Muscovite which hosts soft green Trolleite and pale blue Kyanite. We have photographed the specimen with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality and enhance the detail. This is the only piece that we have to offer of this material and comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371 Do not miss out on this one if you collect rare minerals or hard to find material!
