Item Description

Tsavorite is a green (typically vanadium-bearing) variety of Grossular Garnet, which was discovered in Kenya by the British geologist Campbell R. Bridges in 1967. This material along with Demantoid, is the most desirable and value green color Garnet in the world. Typically this material can be a very light mint green or an undesirably dark green, but this particular gem is a very desirable, saturated, fine emerald green color without being too dark or light. Tsavorite has for many years been a rare, high-in-demand, attractive gemstone in the retail market, and thus commands a high price due its rarity and beauty. Keep in mind that the top quality Tsavorite in the world only comes from one a few places in teh world and the supply has certainly been dwindling in the last decade or so This gem is a superb, rich, VS included, "Round" cut gem. This particular stone was from a very old stash of rough that was very recently re-discovered in an old collection, and now you've got the chance to own a nice quality gem for a very good price. I have recently seen top-grade Tsavorites selling at retail prices of $2,000 per carat.
