Item Description

A dramatic, sculptural and unusual looking large 2-generation calcite specimen from the Valenciana Mine at famed Guanjuato. Two generations of unusually rounded, sparkly, pearlescent calcite rhombs cover the piece. Ivory-colored calcites cover the "foot" of the piece, while striking, contrasting gray iron oxide-tinted rhombs cover both sides of the "ankle" of the piece. The gray rhombs encircling the drusy quartz in the ankle adds contrast and pizzazz. The underlying matrix is quartz on both the foot and ankle. This is a RARE calcite style from this mine and even the mine level is known. A significant find. Choice material from the Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection.
