Item Description

Prehnite is RARE from the basalt deposits around historic Idar-Oberstein. This is a highly unusual, sculptural and VERY RARE old-time two-generation specimen. The bubbly, botryoidal mounded specimen is covered with tiny, very sharp, oxide-tinted, yellow-green prehnite prisms. The underlying botryoids are classic, translucent, lustrous, yellow-green radial clusters of prehnite crystals. Ex Falkenhorst Collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2081 and acquired from Scott Williams in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Remarkable and rare two-generation prehnite from Idar.
