Item Description

It's incredibly rare to find such razor sharp, lustrous crystals of Uraninite like this piece. The specimens from the Swamp No. 1 Quarry in Maine are among the finest examples of the species extant. This particular specimen is a top notch group of metallic, grey-black, splendent, razor sharp cuboctahedra of Uraninite. Both crystals are in superb condition and the back is smooth where it must have grown against another species or the pocket wall. The piece was mined in the 1970s when many of the good ones came out. These are valuable on the market and beloved by collectors. While doing a bit of research on the material, I managed to find a link to Rock Currier's photo of this EXACT specimen on mindat - https://www.mindat.org/photo-314114.html - when Rock photographed a large percentage of Miguel's collection in 1980. From the collection of Senator / Dr. Miguel Romero of Teuhuacan, Mexico (Collection #6182).
