Item Description

A very rare specimen of the hydrated uranium sulfate Uranopilite from one of the two type localities for the species. Uranopilite was first reported from Jachymov (St Joachimsthal) in the Czech Republic along with Johanngeorgenstadt in Germany. This piece features attractive yellow patches of Uranoplite in host rock matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7879). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
