Item Description

A classic, hard-to-find specimen of Vanadinite that was simply labeled as coming from "Tombstone", but it almost certainly from the Gallagher Vanadium & Rare Minerals Corporation Mine (sometimes called the Bradsher Mine, the Stella Mine, the Vogel Mine or the Buena Vista Mine). The piece features tustrous, prismatic, brown to reddish-brown, hexagonal, Vanadinite barrels to about 6 mm which are festooned on the vuggy matrix on this very rich ore specimen. Specimens of this richness and quality are uncommon from here and this is a good one. Certainly older material, dating back many decades. If you collect Arizona minerals or secondary ore minerals, DON'T miss out on this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3603). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
