Vanadinite - unusual crystal

Vanadinite may be common, but this specimen from old finds (1970s or early 1980s) is a special style, and of a crystal habit we seldom see in any discovery here even decades later. The radial fan spray of parallel-grown crystals atop is just over 3 cm across and 2.5 cm tall, and looks like a sail of red lead...very very aesthetic and attractive. It is coke can red, lustrous, and complete on both sides. you can see Dr. Pohl #57251 on the side, indicating purchase in the 1980s. She loved vanadinites and bought a huge range of style as they came out, resulting in a collection of vanadinite styles like we have never seen anywhere else, each cherry picked. This is pristine, complete, 360 degrees all around! It is so unusual, like nothing modern you will see from this still producing mine, and that is what makes it a special miniature - as so many of hers were chosen carefully, and have stood the test of time!
