Item Description
A striking, very sculptural large piece from this old South Australia mine, opened in 1845. Moderately lustrous, botryoidal velvet malachite has formed into this amazing "turtle" shape. The uplifted head, outstretched legs and freeform shell are clearly evident. Probably an old specimen for this locality, but no proof. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. Valued at $700-900.
