Item Description

The Jeffrey Mine has produced some of the most distinctive and magnificent quality specimens of Vesuvianite and Grossular Garnet ever found. This piece is an uncommon association specimen featuring both species together. The Vesuvianites measure up to 5 mm long, and are all a beautiful bright green hue with sharp, lustrous faces and good gemminess when backlit. They are sitting atop dodecahedral crystals of soft pinkish colored Grossular Garnet, with individual crystals measuring up to 8 mm across. Even though these two minerals are well-known and were fairly abundant from this locality, it's remarkably rare to find Vesuvianite ON Grossular like this in my experience. This material is no longer being found as the Jeffrey Quarry is completely defunct and will not produce these specimens again. Don't miss out on this Canadian classic association specimen.
