Item Description

Here we have a wonderful hefty large cabinet specimen of this limited and beautiful material from the Palabanda Quarries. Going back to the mid 2000s, there have been a few important discoveries of attractive blue Hemimorphite from a few localities in the renowned copper deposits in Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville). This piece was found in May of 2020, and we picked up a small but good quality parcel of this new and exciting material from what originally was said to be the M'Fouati Mine, but we're now aware that they came from the Palabanda Quarries. These specimens have excellent color and the vast majority are good sized display specimens. This piece features a patch of beautiful bright sky blue colored botryoidal Hemimorphite, and there are several vugs on all sides which feature micro dark green-blue aggregates of the rare zinc phosphate Kipushite. If you look closely with a loupe, you'll see tiny dark blue sparkling crystals of the rare copper zinc phosphate, Veszelyite. A very attractive and good quality example of these beautiful new specimens.
