Item Description

Vivanite from Huanuni has become increasingly difficult to obtain these days, and very little material has come out over the past decade. The phosphate zone at Huanuni hasn't produced much due to the fact that the miners are restricted from visiting this area to collect specimens. Not too long ago, I learned that 7-8 miners were fired for taking specimens out of the mine, so it seems that good specimens from Huanuni will be nearly impossible to obtain. This particular specimen came out of Haununi in the late 1990's, and was personally brought back into the country by Brian Kosnar. It is essentially a semi lustrous, semi translucent, deep blue-green color, prismatic crystal "spray" with minor attached matrix. A worthwhile, large miniature / small cabinet display specimen of this classic material. This one certainly is not characteristic for the mine.
