Item Description

A striking 5.1 cm, lovely blue to sea-green, highly lustrous, gemmy, 5.1 cm cluster of doubly terminated parallel-growth vivianite crystals dramatically dominates this sculptural large combination plate from the famous Huanuni Mine. Two smaller crystals reach 2.8 cm on the edge and side. RARE, tiny dogtooth calcite crystals totally cover the front and one side of the blocky arsenopyrite and pyrite matrix. Calcite, Arsenopyrite and Pyrite are listed by MINDAT for the locale, but there are no examples featured in the Photo Gallery. The mine is the world's richest cassiterite deposit and has supplied world-class vivianite specimens. Ex Greg Peterson Collection of British Columbia, Canada. An excellent and rare vivianite combination from the locale - quite unusual compared to most. Valued by previous owner at $1000-2000.
