Item Description

A colorful and very hard to find specimen of the beloved and sought after arsenic antimony sulfide, Wakabayashilite from an undisclosed locality Nevada (perhaps the White Caps Mine or the Getchell Mine). This mineral was first discovered in Japan, and named after the Japanese mineralogist Yaichiro Wakabayashi. This piece features vibrant, orange to yellow Wakabayashilite associated with rhombic Calcite on matrix. The largest Calcite measures 1.1 cm on edge. One simply does not see these specimens on the market, and this piece should be appreciated for both its rarity and beauty. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6176). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive old-timer.
