Item Description

Wardite is a relatively rare phosphate, and some of the most beautiful (and well known) crystals of the material are found in the Yukon Territory. This area is only accessible for a few months per year and is rather treacherous terrain for collecting specimens. Here we have a 2-specimen set featuring a pair of a good sized, attractive, sharp, lustrous, tetragonal crystals of Wardite with minor blue Lazulite. These are older specimens, and one of them in accompanied by a label from the Geological Survey of Canada. I have not seen many of these specimens on the market in the last few years, so don't pass up these attractive larger crystals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8700 and #8999). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
