Item Description

This is the only specimen of Wardite we've ever had to offer from Alto Patrimônio in the Pedra Lavrada part of Paraíba, Brazil. The piece is quite impressive not only for the rare locality, but the fact that it host a notably good sized (1.6 cm), chalky white pseudo-octahedral crystal along with several additional Wardites associated with micro golden-tan Eosphorite sitting on gemmy, colorless and smoky colored Quartz matrix. Unfortunately the front the largest Wardite is cleaved, so the piece is not pristine, but you rarely seen Wardites this size from any locality, as they typically only measure in mm, not cm. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011
