Item Description

Wendwilsonite is a rare hydrated calcium magnesium cobalt arsenate that was named after the current and long time editor/publisher of the Mineralogical Record, Wendell Wilson. It was discovered in 1987 and Bou Azzer is the co-type locality for this beautiful species along with Sterling Hill, New Jersey. This piece features a coverage of sharp, lustrous, translucent, purplish-red color monoclinic crystals on matrix. The largest crystal measures 3 mm. Good quality up close, and this material is not often seen on the market these days. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12935). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
