Item Description

Very good, classic combination piece from the famous Minerva #1 Mine is southern Illinois. The fluorescent Witherites have a sharp, hexagonal, barrel-shaped habit, with the largest being about 1.7 cm across. They have good luster, and range from having translucent cores to partially-gemmy outer zones. The Witherites rest on a matrix of crystalline Calcite, which range in habit from fine dogtooth crystals to elongated bundles of twins. This bundling is a classic habit for Calcite in this district.
