Item Description

Pigeon Roost Mine witherites are a RARE and desirable Arkansas species. Tjos find is unique in the world for the species and habit.The mine was discovered in 1946 and was briefly reopened in 1975 and was closed again in 1976. This piece was probably collected in the 1970s. They are easily distinguished from other areas by their bladed to tabular form, glassy luster, along with a snow white to cream color. Large blades to 3.8 cm wide are attached to the Stanley Shale matrix. This is an impressive and rare larger specimen from the Don Owens Collection. valyed $750
