Item Description

Vivid beautiful variable blue 3-dimensional row of rolling "waves" of woodwardite compose this surreal light weight crust from a small recent find in China (March 2020). Woodwardite is rare hydrated Cu-Al sulfate secondary mineral found in the oxidized zone of copper deposits, but is quite rare as aesthetic specimens. The Type Locality and most prolific for the species is in Cornwall, England, with specimens also coming from Italy, Greece and Arizona. This is a SIGNIFICANT RARITY, as MINDAT does not list the species in China. Totally unlike anything else. The optics on this piece are fabulous, when the piece is rotated! Fantastic and colorful natural Modern Art! The material looks like hemimorphite at first but is definitely not!: Mass is only 21 grams due to the aluminum content, and so it feels strange in your hands.
