Wulfenite

Item Description

This is a very dramatic, complexly crystallized single "windowpane" of wulfenite from Alex's favorite location for wulfenite, as a number of different fine crystals are in the collection. It is simply magical to look at, like orange glass, or a sculpture - and we think it will become an iconic specimen from the location. Alex was involved with helping the miners and distributing specimens as well, at various times, and collected underground here himself. He therefore constantly sought unusual and fine Rowley pieces for his collection. This is a relatively large crystal for the mine - a one-inch transparent orange windowpane perched on smaller Wulfenite crystals. Displayed specimen label from the 2017 TGMS Show’s Wulfenite “Proposed Official Arizona Mineral” display case to get wulfenite named as the state mineral species, which Alex was involved in. NOTE: hand delivery is preferred, even if we need to wait to get it to the winner. We regard this as one of the iconic Arizona specimens in the collection, and significant also because Alex had regular access to the modern mining and production of the mine at the time these were coming out, advised and helped them with sales, and had the unique chance to buy special pieces as they came out. Specimens of this magnitude have not generally been available on the market and were closely held and sold privately.

There is a chip compared to the previous, old photos. The video reflects the current state of the specimen accurately, as it was when we acquired the collection.
