Item Description

A classic from Tiger featuring brilliant, electric orange color, very thin tabular blades of Wulfenite measuring up to 5 mm associated with soft blue, translucent, "rice grain" or "barrel"-shaped crystals of Willemite on matrix. The label mentions that there is Melanterite on the specimen, but the species is not reported from this locality, so I don't know what it's referring to. There are a few undamaged Wulfenites on the specimen, though many of them are contacted. This combo is rare from Tiger, and is certainly sought after by collectors. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9008) with a mention on the label that it's from the J. Rodekor Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
