Item Description

A very fine and sculptural 360-degree specimen of jackstraw parallel-growth, intergrown clusters of lustrous brown wulfenite prisms from the famous Defiance Mine. Compound blades reach 2.2 cm on this aesthetic small cabinet. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 432 and acquired from Scott Williams in the early 1950s, while the mine was still active. It closed in 1958. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Essentially pristine, with no broken blades in the interior and very few on the periphery. Valued at $800-1000. Classic and excellent Defiance wulfenite.
