Item Description

Today, few new collectors realize that Morocco was once known for any lead minerals beyond Vanadinite, cerussite, and anglesite. But yes, wulfenite of substantial quality actually came out of this mine in several small pockets, particularly in the early 1980s. This glistening, wet-luster wulfenite is one such, perched on beautiful barite for contrast! It was always rare here, and few crystals of this size (approx. 1 inch) were ever found and saved, making this a beautiful but also an important historic piece from the region. The color is intense and fiery with glassy surfaces, as with the best of Red Cloud mine material from Arizona. But the association is unique, as is the slightly curving style of this crystal. It is a piece that, although only a miniature in size, has a huge visual impact. Valued $2500.I often myself get confused and assume these are from Toussit but they are Mibladen...just very rare!
