Item Description

An extremely rare wulfenite thumbnail from a very uncommon California locale - Lavic, in San Bernadino County. A 9 mm, lustrous, butterscotch-colored, wulfenite crystal with sharp beveled edges is jauntily perched atop smaller wulfenite crystals. This wulfie reminds me of classic Tsumeb material in color, sharpness and form. Undoubtably old-time material, but no proof. Lavic wulfenite was described in a 1921 article in the American Mineralogist. Ex Al Ordway Collection, noted California collector and dealer.
