Item Description

A very hard to find specimen from the lesser known Hamburg Mine that dates back to 1880. The mine is joined by the Princess Mine to the south, and is close to the famous Red Cloud Mine, which has produced some of the finest Wulfenites in existence. This piece features a few very sharp, lustrous, rich red-orange colored, tabular tetragonal crystals of Wulfenite measuring up to 3.5 mm on black Calcite matrix. This mine is best known for it's beautiful micro Vanadinites, and Wulfenites are RARE from this locality, so don't miss out on this one! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9017). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
