Item Description

Please note: These specimens came labeled as coming from "Mt Gissan", and I can't find a listing for this locality, so the two most likely localities for these specimens are The Sarbaiskoe Mine in Rudny or the Sortuz in Balkhash. With that said, they are excellent examples of the species with their intense reddish-orange color and THICK crystals. The color is reminiscent of the famous Red Cloud Mine in Arizona, but the crystals are much thicker than anything I can remember seeing from that locality. The crystals are sharp and well formed, and GLOW with color when backlit. The larger of the two is notably gemmier, and could actually yield a few small gemstones - that's how gemmy it is. Neither crystal is undamaged, but they are still fine examples of the species for color and thickness. If you collect Wulfenites, thumbnails or secondary ore minerals, these are more than worthwhile to add to your collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12047). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
