Item Description

Lustrous, translucent, butterscotch-yellow wulfenite windowpanes are aesthetically clustered, especially on the crest of the sculptural undulating small cabinet specimen. The large crystal at the top is 9 mm. This is a very rich, essentially pristine specimen, as the crust is composed almost entirely of tiny sparkly wulfenite crystals. This extinct Arizona small underground Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu-Au-Mo-Mn-Gemstone mine, only about 100 yards (95 meters) Southeast (MINDAT) of the much more famous and prolific Defiance Mine, produced far fewer specimens. Discovered 1890, the mine produced intermittently from 1893-1978. This piece probably came from an early 1990s collecting effort. A choice and rich example of the species and more obscure locale from the Gary Weaver Collection.
