Item Description

A very fine two-sided matrix wulfenite thumbnail from the renowned Red Cloud Mine. A 2.0 x 1.7 cm sculptural compound tabular crystal with a four leaf clover pattern is aesthetically set against the back edge of the gossan matrix. The glassy, lustrous, translucent crystal has classic reddish-orange color and sharp beveled edges. A cluster of small lustrous calcite rhombs attached to the top edge and a side of the wulfie is a fine accessory. One spot of edge wear is certainly only a modest detraction to this classic. The form and color of this fine piece suggest it is from the 1960s to 70s finds (Bob was one of the folks going there digging) and not the large-scale efforts of the 1990s and 2000s. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. A choice and excellent matrix thumbnail example from this famed locale. Valued $500
