Item Description

Most collectors are probably familiar with the newer / contemporary specimens from this mine featuring rich orange colored thick Wulfenite crystals of strong green botryoidal Mimetite. This particular piece is from older mining dating back to the 1960s-1970s and features notably thin, tabular, soft yellow color, translucent blades of Wulfenite which are intermixed with slightly smoky colored, sharp Calcite rhombs and soft green botryoidal Mimetite on oxidized matrix. The largest Wulfenite measures up to 1.0 cm on edge, and nearly all of them are damage free. It's a very good cabinet sized specimen of this old classic material, when very few are seen these days in this size on the market. It's very attractive up close, and displays beautifully as you can see from the photos. Valued at $950 in the inventory. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5071) with a label that states it was once part of the Vance collection and originally valued at $5! Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
