Item Description

Classic, rare and desirable yellow beryl from this well-known Connecticut pegmatite locale. A 2.8 cm, glassy, gemmy/translucent, terminated crystal is aesthetically set in the miniature pegmatite matrix. The textbook hexagonal pretty yellow crystal is associated with schorl, feldspar and smoky quartz. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8765 and acquired at Ron Bentley's shop in March, 1979. Previously in the Hess Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). The piece was probably collected in the 1960s and the locality is now in a State park. An outstanding and uncommon Mt Tom matrix yellow beryl.
