Item Description

A rarely seen example of the unusual botryoidal Pyrite (originally labeled as Marcasite) from the Cacilia Mine in Bavaria. I've honestly never seen one of these specimens before, and I'm labelling it as a Pyrite as Marcasite has not been reported from the locality according to mindat.org. Small, dull bronze colored spheroids of Pyrite coat the underlying Fluorite matrix. Please keep in mind that this piece is a bit brittle and will require extra care to prevent it from falling apart. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3015). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). A cool, odd German classic from the lesser-known locality.
