Item Description

Emerald are cherished precious gem, long treasured for their beauty and rarity due to the fact that there truly are only a few places in the world that yield gem quality material. Historically, Cleopatra was quite possibly the most famous admirer of Emeralds, and her own mine was rediscovered a century ago – one of the earliest confirmations of Emeralds in history. Aristotle wrote that owning an Emerald would help the wearer with victory in trials, settling litigation, success in business matters and even with poor eyesight. Later, emeralds were highly prized by the Incas and Aztecs when discovered in Colombia. Although Brazil produces more Emeralds annually than any other country, Colombia dominates the trade by setting the standards for size and color. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a Colombian Emerald, but rather a rarely seen gem from the Swat District of Pakistan! This gem is a beautiful bright green "Oval" cut gem with excellent internal clarity. Gems from this area are rare and expensive on the market. We actually purchased this stone direct from the source, which is why we're able to offer it for a low starting bid. These stones are not common from any locality, let alone Pakistan! It should be noted that Emerald is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, as inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors, so when you find a stone like this with such great clarity, it's a real treat. If you're looking for a bright colored stone for a fraction of retail, this is perfect for you. A great gem for anybody who likes Emeralds.
