Item Description

A classic example of rich purple cubic Fluorite in Zinnwaldite mica from the classic locality at Cunovec / Zinnwald. A great representation of these well-known and beloved specimens. The largest Fluorite measures about 6 mm across, and the color really comes out when they're backlit, though they can appear to be black on the surface. You can see that they show a bit of "phantom" zoning on the edges where the crystals are darker around the periphery, but lighter in the center. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8946). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). A great German classic from the famous locality.
