Item Description

Please note that this specimen came with a hand-written note that said it was from "Dong Bo", but it is almost certainly from the Dongposhan Mine in Hunan Province. With that said, the quality on this specimen is as fine as any Fluorite I've had to offer from this locality. It features remarkably sharp, incredibly lustrous, very gemmy, intensely purple colored octahedral crystals with notable dodecahedral modifications and small cubic faces in areas which are sitting on a bit of Quartz on host rock matrix. Nearly all of the Fluorites are pristine, save a few outliers on the periphery, but the piece is in tremendous shape overall. The largest Fluorite measures 2.6 cm. It was incredibly difficult to convey the quality of the crystals in the photograph, but they are BETTER IN PERSON, and if you collect Fluorites or minerals of China, you can't afford to miss out on this top quality specimen from a find dating back about 3-4 years from this deep commercial tungsten ore mine which all came from a single 3 x 3 foot section off one wall of the pocket after a blast. Valued at $4,000 for the incredibly fine quality and fantastic color. Ex Dr. Steven Smale Collection.
