Item Description

I did a double take when I first saw this piece, as it reminded me immediately of the classic pseudomorphs from Colorado. I've seen identical pseudomorphs of Goethite replacing Siderite from the various localities around Park and Teller Counties in Colorado associated with Amazonite and Smoky Quartz. This piece is from the other side of the world however and features a 2.9 cm superb quality, razor sharp, well-formed silvery pseudomorph of Goethite replacing rhombic Siderite sitting beautiful on stark black, prismatic, lustrous crystals of Schorl Tourmaline. Very good quality, showy and RARE for the locality. Typically the Goethite pseudomorphs from this locality are more of a "rust" color, and the Siderites are typically compressed / tabular in habit. This one is VERY good for the locality, and would make a great addition to any pegmatite collection, a pseuodmorph collection, or a suite of Erongo minerals. Ex Charlie Key collection. Charlie is one of the most prolific mineral dealers in the history of the business and is the namesake for two species: Keyite and Ludlockite.
