Item Description

A really attractive old time Selenite twin from the Dammelwald Clay Pit locality in Germany. A sharp, distinct, fairly thick, well-formed, gemmy, twinned crystal of a slightly smoky color is associated with minor Marcasite assocding to the label. Great quality all around, and EXTREMELY rare on the market, I've only seen one other piece of this material in person. The pieces shows a mild yellowish fluorescence under SW and LW UV light. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#H-1790a). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). A hard to find German classic from the lesser known locality. Valued at $750-$950.
