Item Description

Few people probably think of St. Andreasberg as the type locality for the rare zeolite Harmotome, but it's true. The species was first reported in 1801, and these specimens are the famous examples of the classic "Kreuzstein" twins. This piece is loaded with very sharp, well-formed, highly lustrous, textbook crystals of Harmomtome including some attractive "drillbit"-shaped twins covering the matrix. The crystals are an off-white color, with brilliant luster. The crystals measure up to 4 mm and look beautiful up close. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2515). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). A great German classic from the famous locality.
