Item Description

A really cool old time specimen of the unusual botryoidal black Hematites from the Black Forest. This piece has a full coverage of jet-black botryoidal Hematite with a very slick / almost greasy luster which are coating / associated with minor Fluorite. Strange material, and virtually unseen on the market these days. I've seen metallic / play crystals are "rosettes" of Hematite from the Clara Mine, but nothing like this before. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4772). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). A really interesting and unusual German classic from the famous locality. Valued at $650-$800.
