Item Description

A beautiful Smoky Quartz crystal sitting on white Quartz matrix from Brazil. The front of the piece shows a stark contrast between the smoky and white colored Quartz, but the back of the piece shows an almost seemless blending between the two. A doubly-terminated, very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, well-formed, stout crystal with very little damage. I can see a bit of a "Fenster" / "window" habit on the side, and it actually looks like it may have started to form a scepter when you look closely at the base. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #265). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
