Item Description

A classic example of the famous electric yellow colored Sulfur crystals from Weenzen. The piece shows sharp massive Sulfur with fairly good gemminess on matrix. The largest group of Sulfur measures 2.7 cm across. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2384). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). A great German classic from the famous locality. For reference, the species should now be spelled S-U-L-F-U-R as both the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry along with the British Royal Society of Chemistry adopted this spelling in the 1990s (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfur#Spelling_and_etymology)
