Wulfenite

Tsumeb has produced some of the most attractive Wulfenites known - although rarely; and even among those this large miniature stands out. The crystal size is extraordinary, spanning the full breadth of this miniature-sized specimen, and the adamantine luster is superb. There is the expected wear and contacting along some of the edges on a heavy soft mineral, but the sheer size and high luster diminish the negative from some side wear, and more than carry the day. High quality and rare habit create a strong, amazing aesthetic, and because of the darker color it is even better in person. This was obtained by the Sussmans and was in the 100-piece miniatures suite of their first and most important Tsumeb collection in Chicago in 2002, which was sold to us. It then went to Star Van Scriver and to Dr. Pohl within a few years. It remains a unique, important specimen that is simply hard to value. At the time of each sale, it was thought to be a twinned crystal of even higher rarity...although we are now told that it is not a true twin, merely the illusion of twinning.
